NYC Gay Hockey League

Celebrating more than 10 years on the ice, the New York City Gay Hockey Association provides an environment free of harassment and discrimination for members and friends of the LGBT community to fulfill their athletic aspirations.

Our six teams play weekly games at Chelsea Piers Sky Rink in three different skill divisions. And while our main passion is hockey, we're social off the ice too. After all, there's no better way to celebrate a win (or mourn a hard-fought defeat) than with a couple of beers or shots.

Our biggest event is the Chelsea Challenge, a three-day tournament hosted every June. We have as many as 12 teams participating and players from all over North America and a few from as far away as Paris and Stockholm. Our teams have also traveled to tournaments in Toronto, Montreal, Los Angeles, Denver, Ottawa, Sydney, Chicago and Cologne.

For those of you intimidated by hockey, but don't be: We love nurturing new players. If you've ever wanted to play, come out and watch a game. They're free and open to everyone. Just remember to bring a sweatshirt and not wear flip flops: the rink is cold!
