Front Runners New York (FRNY) is the city’s premier running club for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight allies. For more than 30 years, the club has supported a network individuals that range from recreational walkers and joggers to competitive track athletes, road racers and marathoners. Front Runners sticks to a simple mission — to provide lesbians and gays with a healthier life through running. No matter what your pace, preferred distance or racing goal, you will find members to run and train with. Many of our members found lifelong friends, training partners and spouses through the club. At Front Runners New York, we are family in every sense of the word! Whether you are running for fun, competition, fitness, or just want to socialize and get to know other runners, we're glad to have you join us!
Front Runners is one of New York’s largest athletic communities with 600 active members in all 5 boroughs, Long Island and New Jersey. Each year, FRNY teams up with New York Road Runners to produce the annual Pride Run, a five-mile race in Central Park. What began as a small gathering in the early eighties with a few hundred runners has grown into a true world class event for thousands of athletes and spectators. Founded in 1979, Front Runners New York is affiliated with more than 100 clubs internationally that were inspired by Patricia Nell Warren’s novel The Front Runner.
